Energy and resource audit

An energy and resource audit helps identify where energy, materials and other resources are being used inefficiently or unnecessarily lost in production. We analyse actual consumption and production processes and identify specific saving measures to reduce operating costs, improve resource efficiency and support well-founded investment decisions.

What is an energy and resource audit?

What is an energy and resource audit?

An energy and resource audit helps identify where energy, materials and other resources are being used inefficiently and where there is potential to reduce costs and improve performance.

We assess the company’s current energy and resource use, map key areas for improvement, and propose practical solutions and investment opportunities supported by financial calculations.

The result is a clear and actionable overview of which improvements and investments should be prioritised, helping the company reduce its environmental impact, optimise costs and strengthen its competitiveness.

How does the resource audit process work?

How does the resource audit process work?
  • Analysis of energy and resource use data – we collect and process relevant data to gain a comprehensive overview of your company’s energy use and resource efficiency.
  • Client meeting and production process review – we visit your site and assess the most important aspects of the production process from an independent perspective.
  • Identifying potential improvement opportunities together with the client – we analyse equipment efficiency and identify key bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Developing measures and project proposals based on the data – we use calculations to demonstrate how resources can be used more efficiently.
  • Assessment of investment opportunities – we help evaluate suitable investment options to ensure that the planned improvements are cost-effective, well justified and beneficial to the company.

What information is required for the audit?

What information is required for the audit?
  • Company production data – input and output data for the production process in energy, mass or volume units, together with the related costs. The more comprehensive the data, the more accurate and valuable the results will be.
  • Latest financial data – the company’s most recent quarterly balance sheet and income statement.
  • Lease agreement, if operating from rented premises – where relevant, the lease should be valid for a sufficient period to support the planned investment.
  • Price quotations for planned investments – quotations for the proposed investments help assess costs and compare available solutions.
  • Financing information for planned investments – if external financing is required, relevant information on the financing arrangement may be needed to assess the feasibility of the investment.

What results has the resource efficiency measure achieved?

What results has the resource efficiency measure achieved?

The results of Energex’s completed resource efficiency projects have consistently outperformed initial forecasts. Monitoring shows that the resource savings and production growth estimated during the audits were conservative, with actual results proving significantly stronger.

Several companies have already achieved a return on their investments, demonstrating the tangible business value of resource efficiency improvements. Acting early can help companies reduce costs, improve efficiency and gain a stronger competitive position.

Results from 44 completed projects*:

  • €30 million in total project value
  • €20 million per year in resource savings and additional revenue
  • 17% average improvement in resource efficiency

* Based on monitoring for up to five years after project completion.
